What You Need for the Application

Required Documents (Individual Applicants)

  1. You are required to submit two ID documents. Please submit an acceptable document each from 'Proof of Identity and Date of Birth 1' and 'Proof of Identity and Date of Birth 2'.
  2. Please ensure that your document images are clear.
  3. Name and Address in the submitted documents must match the Name and Address in your application.
  4. Submitted documents cannot be past their Expiry Date. Certificates and Utility Bills must be issued within the last 6 months.
  5. Utility Bills must contain Date of Payment.
  6. Customer's personal information will be handled in accordance to Personal Information Protection Law. Any information that is not required for the purpose of Account Opening, will be deleted.

Proof of Identity and Date of Birth 1

My Number Card

  • Only front side is required.

Residence Card or Special Permanent Resident Certificate

  • Mandatory for non-Japanese citizens;
  • Both front & back sides are required;
  • If the Expiry Date is in 3 months (2 months for Special Permanent Resident Certificate) or less, you will be asked to provide evidence that your renewal process is underway before your account can be opened.

Japanese Driver's License

  • Both front & back sides are required.

Utility Bill

  • Acceptable documents are:
    • Electricity receipt
    • Gas receipt
    • Water receipt
    • Landline phone receipt
    • NHK receiving fee receipt
  • Internet or mobile phone bills are not acceptable;
  • The document must contain stamp with Date of Payment;
  • The document must have been issued within the last 6 months.

Government Issued Document

  • The document must have been issued within the last 6 months.

Health Insurance

  • If you have a Health Insurance Card, both front and back sides are required.

Seal Registration Certificate

  • The document must have been issued within the last 6 months.

Proof of Japan Tax ID

My Number Card

  • Both front and back sides are required.

My Number Notification Card

  • Both front and back sides are required.

Copy of Certificate of Residence / Certificate of Registered Matters in the Certificate of Residence (Juminhyo)

  • The document must contain My Number;
  • The document must be issued within the last 6 months.
